Summary
A thriller that begins with a whirlwind romance and a happy engagement and ends with the vengeance spawned from an untimely death, this book took me on quite the ride. When a bubbling bride is presumed dead, what can those closest to her do but suspect others that were close to her? Who could it be? Her new husband who gained access to her name and fortune? Her best friend who seemingly stepped into her place? Her other friends? Colleagues? Family? One friend refused to let her death go unpunished and with a bit of persistence and help, gets to the bottom of what happened on that fateful honeymoon trip that sent her dear friend…not over the moon…but over a cliff.
What I Liked
I liked the pacing. The narrator does a good job of giving hints into her reasoning as she narrows in on who she thinks did it. We get a decent understanding of family and platonic relationships around the victim with just enough ambiguity to keep you guessing. I was surprised by the resolution, and I liked that I was surprised.
What I Learned
This book is a reminder to always trust your gut/intuition. It’s okay to let the past go, even if it hurts. It’s fine if people aren’t fond of you; they don’t have to be in your circle. Sometimes people stay close to you because they want what you have…and that can become disastrous. I liked that the MC was unforgiving. I have seen so many movies that end with the MC betraying herself a bit to appease the regret of whomever betrayed them. I am glad this one did not; it showed that betraying someone once is more than enough.
Reading Recommendation
I recommend this to thriller readers in general. If you like a little romance blended into the set up of untimely demise and broken trust, this could be the read for you!
